Using materials from Scott's 'Ultimate Jazz Tool Kit', students of Scott Wilson's Jazz Combo Sessions
learn basic jazz theory, tricks and performance techniques to open up and express themselves through jazz.
Assisting Scott are incredible musicians with many years of combined experience in the jazz medium.
Improvisation is the key to sucess for any musician. The tools students learn from imporvisation not only help improve their musicianship, but also carry into other areas of life.
Students attending are required to be entering 7th grade or higher, and have played their respective instrument in a school or private lesson environment for at least a year. Students must bring all required equipment to play their respective instruments. Lodging is available for students if necessary.
During this intensive, one week course, students will learn how to play an original score to the silent film 'Metropolis' by Fritz Lang (you can learn more about the film here). Headed by Dr. Tom Silliman, students will learn to play the film's score - and at the end of the camp, play a live performance at the Garden Theatre in historic downtown Winter Garden.
The movie 'Metropolis' is a silent film by Fritz Lang, made in 1927. Made during the German expressionism period, it is still hailed today as one of the great sci-fi film masterpieces. The film had been recut in several versions when released, and consequently a lot of the original film was lost. Recently, a huge effort was made to restore the film to its original state. The film will be shown in its original, uncut state - just as it was in 1927.
Foley effects is for ages 9-17 and requires no experience. Film score participants must be entering 7th grade or higher and must have played their respective instrument for at least one year in a school or private lesson environment. Audition may be required. Lodging is available for students if needed.
Camp Rock Band focuses on getting students together to learn and perform as a band. Students
will also learn music theory and performance techniques to improve their playing and understanding
of the genre.
At the end of the camp, students will perform a live rock concert to showcase what they've learned during the week.
It is essential that any musician learn how to play with and listen well in a group setting. This camp teaches students how to work together, play together, and perform together as a group. This skill is invaluable - both in music and in life.
Students attending must be between the ages of 9-17, and must have played for one year on their respective instrument. In addition, students are required to bring any equipment necessary to play their instrument (drummers - sticks, guitarists - guitar, cables and amps, etc). Giving a foundation in percussion, this camp exposes students to all areas of percussion - from drum kit, to mallet percussion, to timpani, and much more. This camp aslo gives students interested in marching band and/or solo ensemble the chance to strengthen their skills and prepare.
Fundamentals are an essential part to a percussionist's skill set, and allows them to be versatile and refined in their field. This camp not only exposes students to these fundamentals, but refines their ability in them.
Students attending must be entering 7th grade or higher and have played percussion for at least one year in a school or private lesson environment. Students are required to bring their drumsticks for this camp. Lodging is available for students if needed.
